These fall into two categories; CCD and laser.
CCD Barcode Scanners are the most popular type of barcode scanner
used today with no moving parts. They are robust enough to suit most applications. Each available CCD barcode scanner
has its own special features in terms of performance and cost. We can help you select the right CCD barcode Scanner for your
customer's requirements.
Laser Barcode Scanners due to their high intensity light source, give the maximum reading distance
and therefore the Laser barcode scanners are very popular in industrial, especially warehouse applications. We offer a full
range of rugged state of the art Laser barcode scanners.
These offer the ultimate in freedom and the latest
wireless technology; they can be used either as Bluetooth or narrow band radio systems. Multiple cordless barcode scanners
can be used with a single base station or PC.
These are made up of 4 types of modules; CCD, Laser, Omni-Directional
and 2 Dimensional.
CCD Modules are on average the smallest, lightest and lowest cost. They have no moving parts making
them extremely durable. They are suitable to applications where the key factor is a low cost of building and maintaining the
device.
Laser Modules can read at a greater distance therefore enabling them to be set further back in the OEM device.
The laser decoding speed is higher so more codes can be read at a faster rate and the intensity of the barcode light means it is less
affected by bright light and reflection. They suit applications where large barcodes are used and where codes are required to
move very quickly past the scanner.
Omni-Directional Modules produce a grid of laser lines designed to account for codes to be
read regardless of their orientation. This is why the majority of in-counter scanners at major supermarkets use the Omni-directional
lasers. The decode speed is also fast so codes can be scanned more consistently when moving. Omni-directional scanners
are therefore chosen for applications where the codes are varied in size and shape and/or when untrained users are expected to scan
codes.
2-Directional Codes use the latest camera technology to decode normal and 2D barcodes. 2D codes allow a greater
amount of information to be stored in a smaller print area. 2D readers are also able to scan barcodes directly marked onto a
metallic or glass surface, they can even decode barcode images on mobile phone screens. The camera technology can also
read barcodes presented to it in any orientation. 2D modules are chosen where 2D codes are used, when codes need to be smaller/contain
larger amounts of data, when untrained users are expected to scan codes and where codes are printed or displayed on unusual surfaces.
These
are becoming more popular as the need to put more data into a barcode grows. These 2D barcode scanners will decode all popular
forms if 2D codes and are easy to use. With performance being a big issue we can help you select the most suitable 2D barcode
scanner for you customer's needs.
These can be used in all retail environments. We offer a full range of Omni-directional
barcode scanners to suit a number of applications from in-counter to small footprint presentation EPOS scanners, which can be picked
up to enable scanning of large objects.
